Linda Holland Rathkopf Linda Holland Rathkopf has tread successfully many creative paths in her long career. She started as a cabaret singer with one person shows in Manhattan nightclubs (The Duplex,Grand Finale,Reno Sweeney), creating much of her own material (semi-finalist, Arista and Columbia Records song writing competition), achieving favorable reviews from critics ("A lovely voice,appealing personality and a flair for comedy…she has the potential of a great performer", Show Business,5/1/79) and appearing in Actor's Equity showcase productions of new shows (including the off –Broadway produced "Piano Bar".) She then focused for many years on her paintings and sculptures (described by one reviewer as "whimsical snapshots of the American Scene in two and three dimensions. Satire and sympathy pervade her work"), with more than 15 exhibitions of her work in New York City and exhibitions throughout the Northeast as well, again winning acclaim (sole featured artist, Lincoln Center's 20th Anniversary Celebration; Best in Show Award (1500 entries), Artists of Northeast USA (Andre Emmerich,president of Art Dealers Association,curator); First Prizes for sculpture,Chatauqua National Exhibition (Dr. Evan Turner, Director of Cleveland Museum ,curator), Aldrich Museum and Pen and Brush Gallery; work exhibited in museums including Brooklyn Museum). While continuing to paint and sculpt on a private commission basis, she decided she wanted to devote more time to writing. Once again, success followed. Her plays include "Who Stole the Mona Lisa?"produced at Innerspace Theatre in NYC and which is in the permanent archives of the Louvre in Paris;"The Kindling Effect"(a young wife's surprising agitation over the disappearance of a patio umbrella puzzles her husband and tries his patience, but her distress has a more serious source),produced at Yankee Rep,Instant Theater and Pantheon in NYC and the Valley Players Theater in VT;"The Airport Encounter"((a seemingly chance encounter allows a woman to confront her former therapist),produced in NYC,Connecticut, Louisville,Denver,Oakland and Fort Lauderdale;"First Tier"( a wife's expectations of her best friends are discussed with her husband in a comedic evening rife with truth and revelation),produced at the Valley Players Theater in Vt ;"None So Blind"( a doctor's waiting room sets the scene for an afternoon of concern and exploration), read at Women's Initiative Playwrights(Dramatists Guild). Linda was a semi-finalist in the Eileen Heckart Ten Minute Play competition and a finalist in the Prestor John Productions 15 minute play competition.
